If you prefer spinners or bait, the McKenzie can be a great river for traditional gear fishing, too. In April, the McKenzie River begins receiving hatchery trout, and over the season, tens of thousands are stocked. These fish are fun to target and a great option for families or anglers who want steady action.

As your trout fishing guide in Oregon, I’m happy to accommodate your gear preference, and if you’d like the option of fishing both gear and flies, we can do that as well. Hatchery trout can be kept and make excellent table fare. Limits are typically five trout per angler, and it’s common for anglers to catch limits during the season.
