Salmon, Steelhead, Trout, Bass
2024 is shaping up to be a great year for all our local rivers. Returns of anadromous fish are the best we've seen in years and water levels and clarity have been very conducive for great trout fishing. Lots of fish, eager to eat everything we throw at them have been all over the river this year. As we get closer to fall, the fish will get more aggressive and especially focused on eggs dropped by spawning spring salmon. September and October are particularly special months as we are able to watch spawning salmon working their redds and catch trout and an occasional steelhead as they gobble up eggs that escape the nest. As your McKenzie River fishing guide, I welcome every skill level on my trips. I fish all styles from fly fishing to bait and will make sure you are comfortable with the gear you are using. I always have different styles of rods and reels in the boat for you to try if you're just learning how to fish. You'll enjoy fishing from a 2022 18' Clackacraft Clackamax drift boat where catching as many fish as possible comes second only to your safety and comfort. www.clackacraft.com
Summer means bass fishing on the Umpqua River near Roseburg, Oregon. We regularly catch 100+ Umpqua smallmouth bass on these guided fishing trips. This trip is enjoyed by everyone from Dad's with kids to couples as well as experienced fly anglers. Even the most beginner angler will likely catch more than a dozen fish on this trip. Fishing from an 18' Clackamax Drift boat makes this trip comfortable, fun and safe!
The town run steelhead on the Willamette River in Springfield, Oregon has become a great option for steelhead fishing within minutes of downtown Eugene, Oregon. These summer steelhead inhabit water very conducive to swinging flies, throwing spinners or pulling plugs and bait divers. Even though it is so close to Eugene and Springfield, it tends to be the most productive summer steelhead fishery in the area. Although it can be crowded in certain areas, we will choose a float that gets away from the crowds and offers a great chance at hooking one of these chrome bullets.
As your McKenzie River fishing guide, making great memories is my goal. I love spending time on the river with my clients and helping them make the most out of our day on the water. You can expect an honest assessment of conditions before the trip so we can decide if it's the right day for your guided fishing trip. All skill levels are welcome. It's your day and I'll do my best to make sure it's everything you hope it will be. Many of my clients are experiencing a drift boat for the first time. I have countless hours rowing rivers all over Oregon and I am US Coast Guard Certified and Licensed. You will enjoy your float in a 2022 18' Clackamax Drift Boat with all required USCG safety equipment on board. I look forward to hearing from you!
